Never Put Off Brake Maintenance

Brakes allow the driver to maintain control of their vehicle while travelling. Proper working brakes are the key to safety for all passengers. For this reason, it is absolutely vital to repair brakes as soon as you recognize problems in your braking system.

Take your vehicle to an Edmonton auto shop if you notice any of the following:

•	You’re finding it hard to stop the car or it takes longer than usual to stop. Not being able to slow down properly is a huge indication of brake failure. This could be caused by any number of reasons, but usually occurs from overuse or riding the brakes, resulting in hardened brake material.
•	Not all noises point to trouble, but high pitched squealing or grinding while braking may mean it’s time to repair brakes. Some semi-metallic brake pads produce noise because of its material and are no cause for concern. Other noises could denote glazed or worn rotors, loose brake pads, missing pad insulators, shims, springs or anti-rattle clips, rusty or corroded caliper mounts, worn caliper mounts, and loose caliper mounting hardware. Scraping noises may mean the brake linings are worn, in which you should immediately repair brakes. Clicking noises could also suggest loose calibers and should be taken to an Edmonton auto shop for inspection.
•	You notice your vehicle pulling to the side, which may signify brake maladjustment, frozen brakes, leaky brake fluid, sticky caliber or low tire pressure.
•	There is shaking, vibration or pulsation coming from your brake pad or steering wheel. Any of these symptoms signal a warped surface on the brake rotor or drum.

In addition to these warning signs, there are several other clues that indicate you need to repair brakes, including a low, spongy pedal (pedal goes to the floor), drag during acceleration, hard pedal, or your ABS or brake light coming on.

As the primary driver of a vehicle, you should be able to detect any changes in how your vehicle handles on the road. If you observe any of the aforementioned problems in brake operation, Metro Autoshop offers a free inspection of your auto brakes to identify the problem.

Your brakes are an indispensable part of your vehicle. Regular maintenance and awareness of their condition will keep your vehicle in proper working order.

Some tips for brake care include:

•	Have your brakes checked at a reputable Edmonton auto shop every 6-12 months to avoid potential problems.
•	Adjust or be aware of your driving habits. Don’t make panic stops and give yourself plenty of time to stop. This will prolong the life of your brake pads.
•	Downshift gears on slopes. Allow your engine to do some of the braking.
•	Keep your wheels and braking system clean.

If you are having difficulty braking, get your vehicle inspected immediately. Metro Autoshop is a trusted repair shop and will assist with any brake repairs or concerns. By investing in regular brake maintenance and identifying a problem early, you will have the stopping power to keep you and others on the road safe.

The average Edmontonian will likely spend a significant amount of time in his or her vehicle in any given day; whether it is transporting the kids to and from school or making that commute to or from work, driving is typically a large part of ones day. With increasingly complex vehicles comes the need for increasingly qualified and specialized technicians at repair shops with sufficiently sophisticated equipment. As a result, finding the right Edmonton auto repair shop can be tricky, particularly considering the growing amount of competition in the repair industry.
The amount of advertising funds spent to draw customers into any given Edmonton auto repair shop is astounding. One only needs to look at any newspaper, bus bench, Internet home page or watch television for any given amount of time to see the saturation of auto repair shops in Edmonton. Thus, it can seem difficult to be confident choosing the right shop, particularly when faced with a broken down vehicle. That is why it is important to start looking for the right Edmonton auto repair shop before ones vehicle shows signs of wear and tear; the added pressure of needing a repair shop immediately could result in faulty decision making. Pre-empting the need for car repair will allow one to weigh the facts and decipher which shop can adequately handle all of ones car repair needs, as well as being an affordable option. After sifting through some of the many advertisements of Edmonton repair shops, it is essential to visit the shops before making a decision.
When visiting any given Edmonton auto repair shop, keep an eye out for how clean and organized it is and whether any obvious health hazards are present. Then, take the time to talk to a few of the customers you see in the shop and ask them why they have chosen this particular Edmonton auto repair shop. The types of responses to look for are based on performance history and not on price deals or nepotism (aka “ this is where my father and his friends go”). If customers are saying things such as “they did a great job explaining what was wrong and fixing it” or “ they always make me feel welcome”, this is a sign of good customer service and reputation. Additionally, look for the types of certification that are displayed; are they displayed prominently? What qualifications do they have? These are the things to look out for.
While in the Edmonton auto repair shop, ask about what sort of equipment they are using and judge whether or not these are state of the art. It should not be a question that the staff are not willing to answer; ask about what software they use and what sort of diagnostic tools are used in the repair shop. With the increasing sophistication of vehicles, this type of technology is necessary to properly diagnose problems with the vehicle in order to adequately repair it. The simple act of asking these sorts of questions will show how comfortable the staff are with the quality of the shop is a great indicator of how informed the employees are.
Today’s vehicles are increasingly complex and high tech machines that require more specialized knowledge of not only mechanical parts, but other more intricate aspects of car anatomy. In order to be sure that ones vehicle is running soundly and is the safest it can be, finding an Edmonton repair shop, like Metro Autoshop, that offers quality services is very important.

It’s not easy to work in an Edmonton auto body shop. Between the hazardous winters and the distracted drivers, Edmontonians tackle some of the world’s toughest commutes. On some unlucky days, however, it’s the commutes that do the tackling. No one is exempt from the human reality of having accidents, especially no one risking the treacherous roads of Edmonton. Every car that gets bumped, cracked, or banged up finds itself in an Edmonton auto body shop waiting to be repaired by the bustling workers. Only with dedication and joy in their work can they keep up with the constant stream of new arrivals.

Every day the mechanics and repair people in Edmonton’s garages struggle to keep up with the work we pour on top of them. But even though every driver is susceptible to human error, not every break-down or accident has to happen. Some damages are inevitabilities of the road, but many others are caused by drivers’ prolonged negligence. Edmonton auto body workers labour hard enough without having to toil over this latter type of damage. Neglect is what lets little problems grow into safety concerns and financial burdens. Little problems are also much cheaper to fix than big ones.

If you’re really committed to helping the auto body workers of Edmonton, you can do more than listen to your vehicle’s squeaks and groans. Perpetually impeccable condition may be impossible, but preventative vehicle maintenance can stop most problems before they start. Why wait for a cavity to see your dentist? Edmonton auto body workers would gladly check-up on a car and ensure it’s running smoothly instead of having it roll in a few months later with much more work to be done. That’s not to say they don’t appreciate your business—it keeps them doing what they love—but even marathon runners need to pace themselves.

It might seem odd that the best way to avoid a mechanic is to see one regularly, but a car that runs well doesn’t run under stress, which can make a huge difference in the long term. Something that a driver might never notice could cause severe damage over hundreds or thousands of kilometres. By that point, a quick and easy tune-up is too little, too late. As the vehicle’s stress adds up, so does the work it takes to repair it. Skipping out on the dentists for fifty years might save you from a few fillings, but it would likely leave you without any teeth to fill. Problems simply aren’t something worth waiting for.

Though, it’s worth knowing that Edmonton auto body workers aren’t the only ones whose lives are made easier by preventative car maintenance. It’s really the drivers of Edmonton who come out on top. A car that doesn’t break down is a cheap car to own. Ensuring a vehicle is in top condition can end up saving a driver thousands through better control, safety, and fuel efficiency. Regardless of how it might help the over-worked mechanics in Edmonton auto body shops, even the morally bankrupt can appreciate avoiding financial bankruptcy. No matter how you measure it, it preventative car maintenance is always worth the cost.

In the course of most Edmontonians’ lives, the purchase and upkeep of a car is an inevitable occurrence. The sprawling set up of Edmonton combined with the unpredictable weather makes having access to a vehicle important for everyday living in the city. This is why any steps that can help your car maintain its functionality should be taken. Having a frequent Edmonton oil change is one of the most important steps you can take.
The lifespan of your car, whether it was bought new or used, can easily be extended with frequent oil changes. Getting your oil changed is one the cheapest and easiest ways to maximize the lifespan of your cars’ engine and enhance its horsepower usage so that all cylinders are working as if it were brand new. On the flip side however, if you wait too long to have your oil changed there can be fairly substantial consequences. Oil is an important lubricator for all moving parts of the engine and when not enough of this is present, these moving parts are met with friction that causes quick deterioration of the engine. When the engine is not working at its maximum efficiency, you will undoubtedly feel the effects both in your pocketbook and your cars’ drivability. The same consequences occur when you use oil that has lost its integrity; this means if it is unreasonably filled with dirt or is not viscous enough.
If not enough oil is present to make the moving parts of your engine operate smoothly, these parts will not only face friction, but the stressful environment of an engine with a lack of lubrication can result in far more dire consequences. Over a period of time constant exposure to friction and heat not only causes moving parts to deteriorate, but to fuse together or to fail completely. If enough parts cease to work, the engine could easily overheat and even explode. Thus, both the integrity of your car and the safety of your person is reason enough to get your Edmonton oil change as frequently as the manufacturer suggests.
There are many factors that affect how often you should change your oil including how often you drive, the starting condition of the engine, the age of the engine and how you drive (for example if you rely too heavily on the brake for stopping and starting purposes, particularly if you drive a standard). Most manufacturers suggest that you get your oil change at least every 3,000 to 10,000 miles. However, given that Edmonton has lengthy and frequently very cold winters, the roads are often sanded. This causes quicker deterioration of parts and you should thus get your Edmonton oil change more frequently than the manufacturer suggests. The same goes if you frequently drive on dirty or gravel roads, if you consistently drive at high speeds, and or your vehicle is prone to carrying heavy loads.
Getting your oil changed as frequently as needed to keep the moving parts of your engine working is vital to keeping the lifespan of your car long and healthy. At around 50 dollars, oil changes are one of the most cost effective ways to keep your car and its parts running smoothly.

It is necessary for any rider to have proper knowledge about all that is related with tires and its performance. Various issues related with tires like its construction, its maintenance and care, how to mount and dismount it, how to troubleshoot and to take precautions, must be known by the rider so that he can make the most out of them. Let’s have a closer look at these essential areas:

1.Right Size: Basically sizing is nothing but a process of choosing the right tire by evaluating the width of the rim. What does it mean is that the tires must not be wider or narrower than its original equipment tires as it may result into distortion in motorcycle handling if chosen otherwise.

2.Pressure: Due to temperature the pressure increases and so it is really important for the rider to check the pressure of tires on a regular basis especially during winter season. It is a better idea to check the manufacturer’s reference table in case the rider is in doubt or doesn’t know about the right pressure for his tires.

3.The Wear: The rider must regularly inspect the wear indicator in the tire grooves so that he may know when the tire needs a replacement. The rider must check the whether the wear indicators are leveled with the surface of the tread at any point or not, then only he will be able to make out whether a replacement is required or not.

4.Valve Caps: Valve caps not only help in the prevention of air loss but also help in avoiding dirt from entering the valves.

5.Warm-up: The rider is always advised to begin riding at a moderate speed which helps in gradually conditioning the tires up to their normal operating temperature. If the tires have achieved a full warm-up already then they will have an optimal grip.

6.Break-in: For the first 50 kilometers of ride, the rider must avoid rapid acceleration or hard cornering, up to the extent when the tread area is totally worn off.

7.Repairs: A rider must be known to the basics of motorcycle repairs so that he doesn’t find himself helpless in case he encounters any unforeseen damage. So it is always good for a rider to try and learn the basics of motorcycle repairs.

The particle knowledge of all the above points not only helps a rider to maintain his motorcycle but by knowing them he also becomes a good rider as then he already be known to the aspects which may create problems later.

All those who live in colder regions and are often surrounded by extremely cold weathers would find it difficult to start a car due to a cold engine. This becomes a real difficulty for all those who have office to reach on time, have shops to open or just need to move to some place. It becomes not only important to learn and know how to avoid or overcome such problems but also becomes necessary for them to know the actual reason to prevent this from happening in the future again.

One reason why the cold engines experience problems at the time to start, is due to the liquid evaporation which causes in less evaporation of gas and so it becomes difficult to burn due to the fact that it is burnt when it is evaporated.

The other major reason is that the oil becomes thicker in cold when compared to the way it is in hot summers. Liquids remain consistent in hot and so it circulates very easily in the engine where as in cold the oil becomes much more thicker creating problems in the flow of oil in the engine.

Apart from the issues related with engine, the car batteries may also cause problems in starting in cold weather. Batteries function through chemical reactions which loose agility while being cold and therefore, in such circumstances, batteries don’t function properly. The time when all of these things take place, the energy of the car gets affected and causes problems in starting the engine.

When all these problems happens simultaneously, it becomes really tough to start the car and so to overcome the lack of gasoline evaporation problem, you just need to use a spray with ether which will evaporate quickly and this will start the engine. Besides this, you can also to prevent having oil too thick which wouldn’t circulate properly by using thin synthetic oils. One must readily try to maintain the car from being isolated from cold and thus by using these methods you will experience much less problems at the time of staring the car in cold weather.

All this keeps happening day after day yet the driver wants its car to start every time he puts the key inside!

Manufactures issue recommendations on how and when your car must be availed for service and it is considered as the best thing to get your vehicle served which is under the warranty of the dealer. Routine service of the car is the best thing that a driver can do to extend the life of the car. The other advantage is that the driver saves himself money which he may otherwise need to shell out in case of emergency repairs and service. Routine service is more affordable than getting your car repaired after it encounters a problem.

The veterans in the automobile industry always give importance to the oil to get changed after every 3,000 miles as this is considered as the most important part of the regular maintenance of the car. When you go to the mechanic for an urgent oil change, the mechanic will check the status of all the parts of the car like belts, hoses, fluid levels of transmission and brakes and then they will check the air cleaner and the condition of the tires. Other add on services might be offered as well like engine cleaning and radiator flushes and if they will find some thing serious with your car then they will give you the details about it so that you can get if fixed soon.

The way cars are now being maintained and treated have really been changed over the last few years as now the technicians and mechanics use high end computers to diagnose problems and repair them. Generally when you go to the mechanic you will be asked several questions and then you will need to describe each one of them in detail as much as possible. They’ll need to know things such as when you first noticed the problem and exactly under what condition it happens. Does it happen when the car is cold, or after it warms up? Does it happen when you’re at an idle or when you’re accelerating? In case you keep changing your mechanics, be sure to keep a track record of all the services that you have taken for your car. It is generally preferred to fix a particular mechanic for a long term rather then keep changing every now and then as he will knowing all the history associated with your car which will prove to be helpful to him to diagnose and fix a problem.

Learn to listen to your car. If you hear an unusual noise, notice a change in its performance or handling, take it to Metro Auto Services in Edmonton Alberta.

The radiator of the car is the basic cooling agent of the engine whose mechanism provides a simple and elegant solution to the need for engine cooling. Light and strong, aluminum is used to make Parts train’s Radiators and is basically the most famous material used to make these radiators. Today aluminum radiators are Light and intelligently designed which has become a standard nowadays.

If you encounter a small leak in a radiator than you need to be aware as it is the alarm for a bigger problem. A cooling system that runs low too often is less efficient and you can damage your cooling system by letting the coolant level get too low. It is also a fact that little coolant flow is also bad as at normal and high operating temperatures, the level of heat which is dissipated by the cooling cores is not changed. Finally the level of cooling will remain constant even when the mean temperature of the coolant rises and flows faster.

Generally the cheap coolants do not have the corrosion protection, PH balancing, or sediment prevention which is found in the top-quality coolants. All the low quality coolants do not have the same additives of name brand coolants. In order to keep your engine cool, rev up your engine slightly when you are overheating in traffic to help push more air across the cooling cores and more coolant through the engine.

An automatic controlled electric fan is there on all the water-cooled radiators which works after the engine is started and then the thermostat on the engine stays closed until the coolant temperature at the ENGINE reaches 87C (189F) degrees. It becomes the responsibility of the Radiator to keep the coolant temperature from running too high but if the if the temperature is too high it is not necessarily the radiator.

You will need to make sure if your radiator cap is proper one for your cooling system or not as a poorly made radiator cap will not going to last for a much longer time or stay properly calibrated, and either open at too low or two high a pressure. Efficient cooling is when there is higher pressure at higher boiling points. A radiator cap which is new and the one which does not over pressurize your radiator cores and wreck the whole system is generally used for this.

Due to the poor radiator maintenance, many Radiators’ cooling system fails and this is the major reason behind maximum failures of all the cooling systems. Many radiator problems can be prevented with regular maintenance and periodic professional inspections of you car radiator and cooling system. Common problems related with radiators like leaky fittings or seams, fin deterioration and bond failure, electrolysis, cracked tank, and fan damage are encountered.

Parts train’s Aftermarket Parts, Replacement Parts and top grade Radiators are reasonably priced and the company makes sure they are durable. Parts train offers Volvo parts focused on reliability, quality, great designs and affordable price. With the Volvo tradition of designing efficient and innovative cars, Parts train has in its stock the widest array as well high standard Volvo Parts, Performance Parts, and Replacement Parts.
